- Goldfish have
a 3 second memory
No. Goldfish
are fairly intelligent creatures and will remember the person who feeds
them regularly and will remember assosications. eg. Shake the goldfish
food containers to make a noise everytime before you feed your fish.
Soon just the sound of the food containers shaking will have your fish
at the surface looking for food. Scientists have done an experiment
where the fish has learned to press a lever at certain times of the
day to release food.
- Goldfish are fine living in a bowl
A big negative. Apart from the lack of air a goldfish bowl
gives the small size can stunt the growth of your fish. Overtime a fish
growing in a goldfish bowl could develop physical deformities and cause
internal organs to pinch together and not work properly.
- Fish breathe oxygen from bubbles
It is not the bubbles goldfish breathe from, but rather the water. Oxygen
is actually dissolved into water by surface displacement - that is the
top of the water moving. Fish gills extract this oxygen. See the Advanced
